And Abijah rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. Asa his son succeeded him as king, and in his days the country was at peace for ten years.
2. 아사가 그의 하나님 여호와 보시기에 선과 정의를 행하여
Asa did what was goood and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.
3. 이방 제단과 산당을 없애고 주상을 깨뜨리며 아세라 상을 찍고
He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles.
4. 유다 사람에게 명하여 그 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 찾게 하며 그의 율법과 명령을 행하게 하고
He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to obey his laws and commands.
5. 또 유다 모든 성읍에서 산당과 태양상을 없애매 나라가 그 앞에서 평안함을 누리니라
He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him.
6. 여호와께서 아사에게 평안을 주셨으므로 그 땅이 평안하여 여러 해 싸움이 없은지라 그가 견고한 성읍들을 유다에 건축하니라
He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace. No one was at war with him during those years, for the LORD gave him rest.
7. 아사가 일찍이 유다 사람에게 이르되 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와를 찾았으므로 이 땅이 아직 우리 앞에 있나니 우리가 이 성읍들을 건축하고 그 주위에 성곽과 망대와 문과 빗장을 만들자 우리가 주를 찾았으므로 주께서 우리 사방에 평안을 주셨느리라 하고 이에 그들이 성읍을 형통하게 건축하였더라
"Let us build up these towns," he sais to Judah, "and put walls around them, with towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because we have sought the LORD our God; we sought him and he has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
