1.¸¸¹Îµé¾Æ À̸¦ µéÀ¸¶ó
¼¼»óÀÇ °Å¹Îµé¾Æ ±Í¸¦ ±â¿ïÀ̶ó
Here this, all you peoples;
listen, all who live in this world,
2.±Íõ ºóºÎ¸¦ ¹°·ÐÇÏ°í ´Ù µéÀ»Âî¾î´Ù
both low and high,
rich and poor alike:
3.³» ÀÔÀº ÁöÇý¸¦ ¸»ÇÏ°Ú°í ³» ¸¶À½Àº ¸íöÀ» ¹¬»óÇϸ®·Î´Ù
My mouth will speak words of wisdom;
the utterance from my heart will give understanding.
4.³»°¡ ºñÀ¯¿¡ ³» ±Í¸¦ ±â¿ïÀÌ°í
¼ö±ÝÀ¸·Î ³ªÀÇ ¿À¹¦ÇÑ ¸»À» Ç®¸®·Î´Ù
I will turn my ear to a proverb;
with harp I will expound my riddle:
5.Á˾ÇÀÌ ³ª¸¦ µû¶ó ¿¡¿ì´Â ȯ³­ÀÇ ³¯¿¡
³»°¡ ¾îÂî µÎ·Á¿öÇÏ·ª
Why should I fear when evil days come,
when wicked deceivers srround me-
6.ÀÚ±âÀÇ Àç¹°À» ÀÇÁöÇÏ°í
dzºÎÇÔÀ¸·Î ÀÚ±àÇÏ´Â ÀÚ´Â
those who trust in the wealth
and boast of their great riches?
7.¾Æ¹«µµ °áÄÚ ±× ÇüÁ¦¸¦ ±¸¼ÓÇÏÁö ¸øÇϸç Àú¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿©
Çϳª´Ô²² ¼ÓÀüÀ» ¹ÙÄ¡Áöµµ ¸øÇÒ °ÍÀº
No man can redeem the life is costly,
or give to God a ransom for him-
8.the ransom for a life is costly,
no payment is ever enough.
9.Àú·Î ¿µÁ¸ÇÏ¿© ½âÀ½À» º¸Áö ¾Ê°Ô ¸øÇϸ®´Ï
that he should live on forever and not see decay.
10.Àú°¡ º¸¸®·Î´Ù
ÁöÇýÀÖ´Â ÀÚµµ Á×°í
¿ìÁØÇÏ°í ¹«ÁöÇÑ ÀÚµµ °°ÀÌ ¸ÁÇÏ°í
ÀúÈñÀÇ Àç¹°À» ŸÀο¡°Ô ³¢Ä¡´Âµµ´Ù.
For all can see that wise men die;
the foolish and the senseless alike perish
and leave their wealth to others.
11.ÀúÈñÀÇ ¼Ó »ý°¢¿¡ ±× ÁýÀÌ ¿µ¿µÈ÷ ÀÖ°í
±× °Åó°¡ ´ë´ë¿¡ ¹ÌÄ¡¸®¶ó ÇÏ¿©
±× ÀüÁö¸¦ ÀÚ±â À̸§À¸·Î ĪÇϵµ´Ù
Their tombs will remain their houses forever,
theri dwellings for endles generations,
though they had named lands after themselves.
12.»ç¶÷Àº Á¸±ÍÇϳª À屸ġ ¸øÇÔÀÌ¿©
¸ê¸ÁÇÏ´Â Áü½Â °°µµ´Ù
But man, despite his riches, does not endure;
he is like the beasts that perish.
13.ÀúÈñÀÇ ÀÌ ÇàÀ§´Â ÀúÈñÀÇ ¿ì¸ÅÇÔÀ̳ª
Èļ¼ »ç¶÷Àº ¿ÀÈ÷·Á ÀúÈñ ¸»À» ĪÂùÇϸ®·Î´Ù
This is the fate of those who trust in themselves,
and of their followers, who approve their sayings.
14.¾ç°°ÀÌ ÀúÈñ¸¦ À½ºÎ¾Ö µÎ±â·Î ÀÛÁ¤µÇ¾úÀ¸´Ï
»ç¸ÁÀÌ ÀúÈñ ¸ñÀÚÀÏ °ÍÀ̶ó
Á¤Á÷ÇÑ ÀÚ°¡ ¾Æħ¿¡ ÀúÈñ¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®¸®´Ï
ÀúÈñ ¾Æ¸§´Ù¿òÀÌ À½ºÎ¿¡¼­ ¼Ò¸êÇÏ¿©
±× °ÅÃÄÁ¶Â÷ ¾ø¾îÁö·Á´Ï¿Í
Like sheep they are destined for the grave,
and death will feed on them.
The upright will rule over them in the morning;
their forms will decay in the grave,
far from their princely mansions.
15.Çϳª´ÔÀº ³ª¸¦ ¿µÁ¢ÇϽø®´Ï
ÀÌ·¯¹Ç·Î ³» ¿µÈ¥À»
À½ºÎÀÇ ±Ç¼¼¿¡¼­ ±¸¼ÓÇϽø®·Î´Ù
But God will redeem my life from the grave;
he will surely take me to himself.
16.»ç¶÷ÀÌ Ä¡ºÎÇÏ¿© ±× Áý ¿µ±¤ÀÌ ´õÇÒ ¶§¿¡ ³Ê´Â µÎ·Á¿ö ¸»Âî¾î´Ù
Do not be overawed when a man grows rich,
when the splendor of his house increase;
17.Àú°¡ Á×À¸¸Å °¡Á®°¡´Â °ÍÀÌ ¾ø°í
±× ¿µ±¤ÀÌ Àú¸¦ µû¶ó ³»·Á°¡Áö ¸øÇÔÀ̷δÙ
for he will take nothing with him when he dies,
his splendor will not descend with him.
18.Àú°¡ ºñ·Ï »ý½Ã¿¡ Àڱ⸦ ÃàÇÏÇÏ¸ç ½º½º·Î ÁÁ°Ô ÇÔÀ¸·Î »ç¶÷µé¿¡°Ô ĪÂùÀ» ¹ÞÀ» Âî¶óµµ
Though while he lived he counted himself blessed-
and men praise you when you prosper-
19.±× ¿ª´ëÀÇ ¿­Á¶¿¡°Ô·Î µ¹¾Æ°¡¸®´Ï
¿µ¿µÈ÷ ºûÀ» º¸Áö ¸øÇϸ®·Î´Ù
he will join the generation of his fathers,
who will never see the light of life.
20.Á¸±Í¿¡ óÇϳª ±ú´ÝÁö ¸øÇÏ´Â »ç¶÷Àº ¸ê¸ÁÇÏ´Â Áü½Â °°µµ´Ù
A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish
