1.So the king and Haman went to dine with Queen Esther,
2.and as they were drinking wine on that second day, the king again asked, "Queen Esther, what is your petition? It will be given to you, What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be granted."
"O king, and if it pleases your majesty, grant me my life - this is my petition. And spare my people- this is my request.
4.For I and my people have been sold for destruction and slaughter and annihilation. If we had merely been sold as male and female slaves, I would have kept quiet, because no such distress would justify disturbing the king."
5.King Xerxes asked Queen Esther, "Who is he? Where is the man who has dared to do such a thing?'
6.Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this vile Haman.
Then Haman was terrified before the king and queen.
7.The king got up in a rage, left his wine and went out into the palace garden. But Haman, realizing that the king had already decided his fate,stayed behind to beg Queen Esther for his life.
8.Just as the king returned from the palace garden to the banquet hall, Haman was falling on the couch where Esther was reclining.
The king exclaimed, "Will he even molest the queen while she is with me in the house?"
As soon as the word left the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.
9.Then Harbona, one of the eunuches attending the king, said, "A gallows seventy-five feet hign stands by Haman's house. He had it made for Mordecai, who spoke up to help the king."
The king said, "Hang him on it!"
10.So they hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king's fury subsided.
1.왕과 하만은 에스더가 차린 잔치에 갔습니다.
2.둘째 날에도 왕은 하만과 더불어 술을 마시다가 에스더에게 물었습니다. "당신이 바라는 것이 무엇이오? 내 나라의 절반이라도 주겠소."
3.그러자 에스더 왕후가 대답했습니다. "왕이 저를 어벼삐 보신다면, 그리고 제 요청을 들어 주실 마음이 있으시다면, 제 목숨을 살려 주십시오. 이것이 제 소원입니다. 그리고 제 민족도 살려 주십시오. 이것이 제 요청입니다.
4.제 민족이나 저나 이제는 다 죽고 망하여, 완전히 없어지게 되었습니다. 우리가 남종이나 여종으로 팔려 가기만 해도 제가 잠자코 있었을 것입니다."
5.아하수에로 왕이 에스더 왕후에게 물었습니다. "그가 누구요? 그가 어디에 있소? 누가 그런 짓을 하려하오?"
6.에스더가 말했습니다. "우리의 적, 우리의 원수는 바로 이 악한 하만입니다." 그 말이 끝나자, 하만은 왕과 왕후 앞에서 두려움에 사로잡혔습니다.
7.화가 ㅁ머리 끝까지 난 왕은 자리에서 일어나 왕궁 뜰로 나갔습니다. 하만은 왕이 아미 자기를 죽이기로 결심 한 것을 알고, 자리에 남아 에스더에게 목숨만 살려 달라고 빌었습니다.
8.왕이 왕궁 들에서 잔칫방으로 돌아와 보니, 하만이 왕후가 기대는 침상에 엎드려 있었습니다. 그 모습을 보고 왕이 말했습니다. "내가 왕궁에 있는데도 이 놈이 왕후를 덮치려 하는구나!" 왕이 그 말이 떨어지기가 무섭게 종들이 달려들어 하만의 얼굴을 가렸습니다.
9.그 때, 왕을 모시던 내시 가운데 하르보나가 말했습니다. "하만이 자기 집에 높이가 오십 규빗 되는 장대를 세워 놓았습니다. 그것은 왕을 해치려는 음모를 알려 준 모르두개를 달려고 준비해 놓은 것입니다." 왕이 말했습니다. "하만을 거기에 매달아라!"
10.그러자 사람들이 모르두개를 달려고 하만이 세워 놓은 바로 그 장대에 하만을 애달았습니다. 그런 뒤에야 왕의 분노가 가라앉았습니다.
