1.That same day King Xerxes gave Queen Esther the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews And Mordecai came into the presence of the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her.
2.The king took off his signet ring, which he had reclaimed from Haman, and presented it to Mordecai. And Esther appointed him over Haman's estate.
3.Esther again pleaded with the king, falling at his feet and weeping. She begged him to put an end to the evil plan of Haman the Agagite, which he had devised against the Jews.
4.Then the king extended the gold scepter to Esther and she arose and stood before him.
5."If it pleases the king," she said, "and if he regards me with favor and thinks it the right thing to do, and if he is pleased with me, let an order be written overruling the dispatches that Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, devised and wrote to destroy the Jews in all the king's provinces.
6.For how can I bear to see disaster fall on my people? How can I bear to see the destruction of my family?"
7.King Xerxes replied to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Because Haman attacked the Jews, I have given his estate to Esther, and they have hanged him on the gallows.
8.Now write another decree in the king's name in behalf of the Jews as seems best to you, and seal it with the king's signet ring- for no document written in the king's name and sealed with his ring can be revoked."
9.At once the royal secretaries were summoned- on the twenty-third day of the third month, the month of Sivan. They wrote out all Mordecai's orders to the Jews, and to the satraps, governors India to Cush. These orders were written in the script of each province and the lanuage of each people and also to the Jews in their own script and lanuage.
10.Mordecai wrote in the name of King Xerxes, sealed with dispatches with the king's signet ring, and sent them by mounted couriers, who rode fast horses especially bred for the king.
11.The king's deict granted the Jews in every city the right to assemble and protect themselves; to destroy, kill and annihilate any armed force of any nationality or province that might attack them and their women and their children; and to plunder the property of their enemies.
12.The day appointed for the Jews to do this in all the provinces of King Xerxes was the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar.
13.A copy of the test of the edict was to be issued as law in every province and made know to the people of every nationality so that the Jews would be ready on that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.
14.The countries, riding the royal horses, raced out, spurred on by the king's command. And the edict was also issued in the citadel of Susa.
15.Mordecai left the king's presence wearing royal garments of blue and white, a large crown of gold and a purple robe of fine linen. And the city of Susa held a joyous celebration.
16.For the Jews it was a time of happiness and joy, gladness and honor.
17.In every province and in every city, wherever the edict of the king went, there was a joy and gladness among the Jews, with feasting and celebrating. And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them.
1.바로 그날 아하수에로 왕은 유다인의 원수 하만의 모든 재산을 에스더 왕후에게 주었습니다. 에스더가 자기와 모르두개의 관계를 밝혔기 때문에 모르두개는 왕에게 나아가게 되었습니다.
2.왕은 하만에게서 되찾은 자기의 인장 반지를 빼서 모르두개에게 주었습니다. 에스더는 하만이 남긴 모든 재산을 모르두개에게 맡겼습니다.
3.에스더가 다시 왕에게 나아가, 그의 발 앞에 엎드려 울면서 하만의 악한 음모를 막아 달라고 간청했습니다.

7.아하수에로 왕이 에스더 왕후와 유다인 모르두개에게 대답했습니다. "하만이 유다인을 죽이려 했기 때문에 내가 그의 재산을 에스더에게 주었고 군인들을 시켜 그를 매달았소.
8.이제 나의 이름으로 다른 조서를 쓰시오. 그대들 보기에 좋을 대로 쓰고, 나의 인장 반지로 봉인된 조서는 아무도 취소할수 없소."
9.셋째 달, 곧 시완 월 이십삼 일에 왕의 사기관들이 불려 왔습니다. 그들은 모르두개가 시키는 대로 저서를 썼습니다. 그리고 인도에서 부터 에티오피아에 이르기까지 백이십칠 지역에 있는 유다인들과 총독들과 군대 지휘관들과 귀족들에게 조서를 보냈습니다. 그것은 유다를 포함한 각 지방과 민족의 언어로 기록되었습니다.

12.그러나 아하수에로 왕이 다스리는 모든 지방에서 유다인이 그렇게 할 수 있는 날은, 열두째 달인 아달 월 십심일 하루 동안으로 정했습니다.
13.왕은 조서의 사본을 각 지방으로 보내어 법으로 삼게 했습니다. 그리고 그것을 왕이 다스리는 지방의 모든 민족에게 알려, 유다인들이 원수에게 보복할 날을 미리 준비할 수 있게 했습니다.
14.사신들은 왕의 명령을 받고, 서둘러 왕궁 말을 타고 나갔습니다. 수산 성에도 왕의 조서가 선포되었습니다.
15.모르두개가 푸른색과 흰색으로 된 왕궁 옷을 입고, 머리에는 금관을 쓰고, 고운 모시로 만든 자주빛 겉옷을 걸치고, 왕 앞에서 물러나왔습니다. 그러자 수산 성 사람들이 환호하며 기뻐했습니다.
16.그 날은 유다인에게 기쁘고 즐겁고 영광스런 날이었습니다.
17.왕의 조서가 전달되 지방과 상마다, 그 곳 유다인들이 기뻐하고 즐거워했습니다. 그들은 잔치를 베풀고, 그 날을 축제일로 삼았습니다. 그리고 그 땅에 사는 많은 유다인을 두려워하여 스스로 유다인이 되었습니다.
