1.On anther day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them to present himself before him.
2.And the Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?"
Satan answered the Lord, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."
3.Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason."
4."Skin for skin!" Satan." Satan replied. "A man will give all he has for his own life.
5.But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surey curse you to your face."
6.The Lors said to Satan, "Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life."
7.So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from soles of his feet to the top of his head.
8.Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.
9.His wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!"
10.He replied, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
11.When Job's three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.
12.When they saw him from a distance, they could hardly recognize him; they began to weep aloud, and they tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads.
13.Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, beacuse they saw how great his suffering was.
1.어느 날, 천사들과 사탄이 또 여호와 앞에 섰습니다.
2.여호와께서 사탄에게 "네가 어디에서 왔느냐? 하고 물으시자, 사탄이 "세상을 두루 돌아다녔습니다" 라고 대답했습니다.
3.여호와께서 사탄에게 말씀하셨습니다. "네가 내 종 욥을 주의하여 보았느냐? 욥처럼 흠 없고 정직하며, 하나님을 사랑하고 죄를 미워하는 자는 세상 어디에도 없다. 네가 아무런 이유 없이 나를 자극하여 그를 해지고자 했으나, 그가 오히려 신앙을 튼튼히 붙들고 있지 않느냐?"
7.그러자 사탄이 여호와께 대답하였습니다. "가죽은 가죽으로 바꿉니다. 사람은 자기의 목숨을 구하는 일이라면 무엇이든 내놓게 됩니다.
5.이제 주께서 그의 뼈와 몸을 병들게 해보십시오. 그러면 그가 주님을 똑바로 쳐다보며 저주할 것입니다."
6.여호와께서 사탄에게 대답하셨습니다. "좋다. 그를 네 맘대로 해도 좋다. 그러나 그의 생명만은 건드리지 마라."
7.사탄이 여호와 앞에서 물러나 욥을 쳐서, 그의 발끝에서 머리끝까지 온몸에 종기가 나게 했습니다.
8.그는 잿더미에 앉아 기와 조각을 주워서 온 몸을 긁었습니다.
9.그 때, 욥의 아내가 그에게 말했습니다. "그래도 당신은 신앙을 지킥 것 입니까? 차라리 하나님을 저주하고 죽어 버려요!"
10.욥이 그녀에게 대답했습니다. "당신은 어리석은 여자들처럼 말하는군요. 우리가 하나님께 복을 받았는데, 재앙인들 못 받겠소?" 이 모든 일에도 욥은 입술로 범죄하지 않았습니다.
11.욥의 세 친구인 데만 사람 엘리바스, 수아 사람 빌닷, 나아마 사람 소발은 욥이 당한 모든 재앙들을 듣고, 집을 떠나 함께 모여 욥을 위로하기로 했습니다.
12.그들은 멀리서 욥을 바라보았지만 알아볼 수가 없었습니다. 욥의 친구들은 크게 울부짖으며, 각자 자기의 겉옷을 찢고 티끌을 머리 위에 뿌렸습니다.
13.그들은 칠 일 밤낮을 욥과 함께 땅에 앉아 있었지만, 그의 고통이 너무나커 보여 그에게 한 마디도 하지 못했습니다.
