1.Then Elihu said:
2."Do you think this is just?
You say, 'I will be cleared by God.'
3.Yet you ask him, 'What profit is it to me, and what do I gain by not sinning?'
4."I would like to replied to you and to your friends with you.
5.Look up at the heavens and see;
gaze at the clouds so high above you.
6.If you sin, how does that affect him?
If your sins are many, what does that do yo him?
7.If you are righteous, what do you give to him,
or what does he receive from your hand?
8.Your wickedness affects only a man like yourself,
and your righteousness only the sons of men.
9."Men cry out under a load of oppression;
they plead for relief from the arm of the powerful
10.But no one says, 'Where is God my Maker,
whoi gives songs in the night,
11.who teaches more to us than to the beasts of the earth
and makes us wiser than the birds of the air?'
12.He does not answer when men cry out because of the arrogance of the wicked.
13.Instead, God does not listen to their enemy plea;
the Almighty pays no attention to it.
14.How much less than, will he listen when you say that you do not see him,
that your case is before him and you must wait for him,
15.and further, that his anger never punishes and he does not take the least notice of wickedness.
16.So Job opens his mouth with empty talk;
without knowledge he multiplies words."
1.엘리후가 계속 말을 이었습니다.
2."욥 어르신, 당신은 계속 자신이 옳다고 말할 생각입니까?
하나님보다 의롭다는 주장을 계속하시겠습니까?
3.당신이 말했지요?
'죄를 짓지 않는다고 무슨 유익이 되며,
내가 얻는 것이 무엇이냐'고.
4.나는 당신과 친구분들께 말씀드리고 싶습니다.
5.하늘을 보십시오.
당신 위에 높이 떠 있는 저 구름을 바라보십시오.
6.당신이 죄를 지은 것이 하나님께 무슨 영향이 있습니까?
당신의 죄가 많다고 해서, 그분께 무슨 해가 있을까요?
7.당신이 의롭다 하더라도, 그것이 그분께 무슨 유익이 되나요?
그분이 당신 손에서 무엇을 받기나 하십니까?
8.당신의 죄는 당신 같은 사람에게나 영향을 주고,
당신의 의로운 삶도 사람에게나 유익한 것이겠지요.
9.사람들은 학대를 받으면 부르짖으며 벗어나려고 애원합니다.
10.그렇지만 이렇게 말하는 사람은 드물지요.
'나를 만드신 하나님은 어디 계십니까?
밤중에 노래를 부르게 하시는 그분은 어디 계십니까?
11.그분은 우리가 짐승보다 낫도록 가르치시고,
공중의 새보다 지혜롭게 만드시는 하나님이십니다.'
12.저들의 부르짖음에 하나님께서 대답하지 아니하시는 것은
악인들의 교만한 자세 때문입니다.
13.하나님은 사람들이 헛된말로 부르짖는 것을 듣지 않으시며,
전능자는 그런 기도를 들은 체도 않으십니다.
14.당신은 그분을 볼 수 없다고 말하지만, 이미 당신의 사정이
그분께 알려졌으니 그분을 기다리십시오.
15.당신은 그분이 처벌하시지도 않고, 악한 일에도 전혀 관심이 없다고 말했지요?
16.어르신은 정말 헛된 말을 하고, 어리석은 사람처럼 말을 하는군요."
