1.Then the Lord answered Job out of the storm. He said:
2."Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge?
3.Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you, and you shall answer me.
4."Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
5.Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6.On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone-
7.while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
8."Who shut up the sea behind doors
when it burst forth from the womb,
9.when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness,
10.when I fixed limits for it
and set its doors and bars in place,
11.when I said, 'This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud wavess halt'?
12."Have you ever given orders to the morning,
or shown the dawn its place,
13.that it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it?
14.The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;
its features stand out like those of a garment.
15.The wicked are denied their light,
andn their upraised arm is broken.
16."Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17.Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the shadow of death?
18.Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.
19."What is the way to the abode of light?
And where does darkness reside?
20.Can you take them to their places?
Do you know the paths to their dwellings?
21.Surely you know, for you were already bom!
You have lived so many years!
22."Have you entered the storehouses of the snow
or see the storehouses of the hail,
23.which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?
24.What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,
or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
25.Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm,
26.to water a land where no man lives,
a desert with no one in it,
27.to satisty a desolate wasteland and make it sprout with grass?
28.Does the rain have a father?
Who fathers the drops of dew?
29.From whose womb comes the ice?
Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens
30.when the waters become hard as stone,
when the surface of the deep is frazen?
31."Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades?
can you loose the cords of Orion?
32.Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons
or lead out the Bear with itw cubs?
33.Do you know the laws of the heavens?
can you set up God's dominon over the earth?
34."Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with a flood of water?
35.Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, 'Here we are'?
36.Who endowed the heart with wisdom
or gave understanding to the mind?
37.Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
38.when the dust becomes hard and the clods if earth stick together?
39."Do you hunt the prey for the lions
and satisfy the hunger of the lions
40.when they crouch in their dens or lie in wait in a thicket?
41.Who provides food for the raven
when its young cry out to God
and wander about for lack of food?
1.그 때 여호와께서 폭풍 가운데서 욥에게 말씀하셨습니다.
2."무식한 말로 나의 뜻을 어둡게 하는 자가 누구냐?
3.너는 허리띠를 동여매고 대장부처럼 일어나서 묻는 말에 대답하라.
4.내가 땅의 기초를 세울 때 너는 도대체 어디에 있었느냐?
네가 그렇게 많이 알거든 대답하라.
5.누가 그 수치들을 재고 줄자를 대어 보았느야?
6.땅의 기초를 무엇으로 단단히 고정시켰는지, 그 모퉁잇돌을 누가 놓았는지 아느냐?
7.그 때에 새벽 별들이 노래하였고, 모든 천사들이 흥에 겨워 소리를 질렀다.
8.바닷물이 태를 열고 나오는 아기처럼 넘쳐 흐를 때,
바다가 넘치지 못하도록 한계를 정해 놓은 자가 누구냐?
9.그 때 나는 구름으로 바다를 덮고 짙은 어둠으로 그것을 둘러쌌으며,
10.바다에 경계를 지었고 그것에 문빗장과 문을 닫았다.
11.그 때 나는 바다를 향하여, '너는 여기까지만 오고, 더 이상 넘치지 마라!
너 교만한 파도야, 멈추어라!' 하고 명령했다.
12.네가 태어난 이후부터 한 번이라도 아침에게 명령하여,
동을 트게 한 적이 있었느냐?
13.그래서 새벽이 땅의 끝까지 빛을 비추어 악을 행하는 자를
멈추게 한 적이 있느냐?
14.해가 비춰진 땅이 도장 찍힌 진훍처럼 생겨나고,
그 모양이 주름진 옷과 같이 되었다.
15.악인들에게 빛을 주기 않고, 그 치켜든 팔을 꺾을 수 있느냐?
16.너는 바다의 샘에 가 본 적이 있느냐?
깊은 바다 계곡을 걸어다녀 본 적이 있느냐?
17.죽음의 문이 네게 나타난 적이 있느냐?
죽음의 그림자가 있는 문들을 본 적이 있느냐?
18.너는 지구의 구석구석을 다 알고 있느냐?
알거든 대답하여라.
19.빛이 어디에서 오고, 어둠이 어디로 가는지 아느냐?
20.그것들을 네 집으로 데리고 갈 수 있느냐?
그것들이 사는 곳을 아느냐?
21.너는 그 때 태어나서 그것을 아는 사람인가?
나이가 많아서 그럭 것들을 아느냐?
22.너는 눈 창고애 들어가 본 적이 있느냐?
우박 창고에도 가 보았느냐?
23.그것들을 어려운 때,
전쟁이나 싸움에 사용하기 위해 내나 보관하고 있다.
24.너는 번개가 흩어지는 곳이나, 동풍이 땅에서 흩어지는 곳을 알고 있느냐?
25.누가 폭우의 길들을 내었느냐?
천둥의 길을 누가 마련했는지 너는 아느냐?
26.사람의 흔적이 없는 곳,
아무도 없는 사막에 비를 내리고,
27.더없이 메마른 땅에 물을 대고, 그곳에 싹을 돋게 하는 이가 누구인가?
28.비를 낳은 아버지가 있느냐?
이슬 방울은 누가 낳았느냐?
29.얼음은 누구에게서 나왔으며 하늘의 서리는 어디에서 태어났느냐?
30.물을 돌처럼 당당하게 얼리고, 물의 표면을 꽁꽁얼게 하는 이가 누구인지 아느냐?
31.너는 묘성을 한데 묶고, 오리온 별자리의 고리를 풀 수 있느냐?
32.네가 별 무리를 계절에 따라 이끌어 내고, 큰 곰자리, 작은곰자리 별 무리를
인도할 수 있느냐?
33.네가 천체의 운행 법칙을 아느냐?
네가 땅의 자연 법칙을 세웠느냐?
34.구름에게 소이질러,
물이 네게 홍수처럼 덮이게 할 수 있느냐?
35.네가 번개에게 '번쩍이며 나가라!' 고 명하면, 그것이 '예' 그대로 하겠습니다'
라고 답하느냐?
36.누가 가슴에 지혜를 주고, 마음에 총명을 주었더냐?
37.누가 지혜가 뛰어나 구름의 수를 헤아리겠느냐?
누가 하늘의 물병들을 기울여
38.먼지를 덩어리가 되게 하고, 흙을 흙덩이가 되게 할 수 있느냐?
39.네가 사자의 먹이를 잡을 수 있느냐?
사자들의 굶주림을 채울 수 있느냐?
40.사자들의 굴 속에 웅크려 있고 은신처에 숨어서 기다릴 때,
41.까마귀 새끼가 먹이가 없어 이리저리 날며
나를 향해 까악까악 울브짖을 때,
우가 까마귀들에게 먹이를 주는가?"
